SOCIAL SKILLS TRAINING

At Spectrum Optimal Care we understand that social skills don’t always come naturally—but they can be taught, practiced, and strengthened in meaningful ways. Our Social Skills Training services are designed to help individuals build confidence, develop authentic connections, and navigate everyday social situations with greater independence.
What Is Social Skills Training?
Social skills training focuses on teaching the building blocks of communication and interaction. This includes understanding social cues, initiating and maintaining conversations, turn-taking, perspective-taking, emotional regulation, and problem-solving in social contexts. We go beyond surface-level teaching. Our approach ensures that skills are not only learned but also generalized across real-life settings like home, school, and the community.
Who We Support (1:1 for ages 2 to adults!)
Our services are tailored for individuals with autism and other developmental differences who may benefit from structured, individualized support in social development. We meet each client where they are—whether they are just beginning to engage with others or working on more complex peer relationships.
This service may be a great fit for those who:
Have few or no friendships and need support building connections
Want to interact with peers but don’t know how to initiate or join in
Struggle to maintain conversations or stay on topic
Have difficulty understanding social cues like body language, tone of voice, or personal space
Experience frequent misunderstandings, conflict, or frustration during social interactions
Prefer to play alone but may benefit from guided peer engagement
Have strong language skills but struggle with the “unwritten rules” of social interaction
Become overwhelmed or anxious in group settings
Need support with turn-taking, sharing, or cooperative play
Want to build friendships, dating skills, or social confidence
If any of these sound familiar, our team can help build the skills needed for more positive, meaningful social experiences.
